Day 2 - Prachuap Khiri Khan

The train arrived at Prachuap Khiri Khan station at 6.30am. We were quite surprised they unloaded our bicycles from the window of the cargo carriage. We made our way directly to the jetty to enjoy the sun rise. There were already many people doing their morning exercises. Breakfast was a good bowl of minced pork porridge. As it was too early to check in to our guesthouse, we made our way into Air Wing 5 Airforce base towards Ao Manao. It is a popular getaway beach for the Thais and I don't see many Caucasians around. We made our way back to town at 10am and enquired the availability of Baan Phaw Suan Duan guesthouse. It's a nice homestay with 5 rooms. I stayed here in my previous trip here also. Cost per room is 750B. The owner informed us that the rooms will only be ready at 12pm and while waiting, we could have our lunch at her restaurant about 15m away. After checking in to our rooms, we did our laundry and went to have our afternoon nap. We wanted to avoid the afternoon heat. Nonetheless, the room was still abit warm with the aircon at full blast. But we fell asleep anyway as we were tired after 1 night on the coach and another on the train. At 5pm, we went out to explore the northern side of Prachuap bay. There is a designated lane for cyclists throughout. This is a good town for cycling. Along the way I saw a short coconut tree that had coconuts within standing reach. My survival instincts took over and soon I had free coconut juice. It was almost dark when we returned to town. Everyone was complaining about their painful backsides as we had covered quite abit of distance today. Approximately 25km. We had dinner at a local seafood restaurant and went to the night market where we bought yet more food back to the guesthouse for supper. Everyone was feeling tired so went to bed after supper. We agreed to move off tomorrow at 6am to conquer the monkey temple at the top of the mountain.
