Day 4 - Nakhon Pathom to Nongkai

The day begins with breakfast a short walk from our hotel. Along the way, we saw some beautiful mangoes and somehow managed to end up with an extra 3kg of mangoes to carry. Let just say that some of our riders got a particular weakness towards certain fruits. After breakfast we found a nice bakery and enjoys some cakes and coffee. We were comfortable and lazy to move.
Our transport arrived at the hotel about 12.30pm. It was a pick up with no seats in the rear. We were slightly disappointed as this meant sitting on some cardboard at the back on the pick up. Has this turned into a sitting on cardboard holiday? Haha..
Luckily the traffic was clear and our driver is knowledgeable. We're arrive at Hua Lampong train station in Bangkok in 1 hour. 1400b may sound costly but it was well spent. Our train is scheduled to leave Bangkok at 8pm and arrive in Nongkai at 7am. The ticket for 2nd class upper deck sleeper bunk cost 688b and lower deck bunk costs 758b. We can only pay and load our bicycle onto the train at 7pm. We had a few hours of free time so we went to Bangkok Chinatown (Yowwarat) for lunch and to visit a Goldsmith shop for some custom made jewellery. We left our bicycles behind at the 'left baggage' section for a princely sum of 100b per bicycle. Quite costly but a small sum to pay for convinience.
It was reported on the news that the weather in Bangkok is not as hot as previous days. Only 36 degrees Celsius... But we were sweating bucket loads anyway. After an early dinner, we took a taxi back to have our baths at the washrooms at the train station. 10b each and we were feeling fresh again. At 7pm, we paid and loaded our bicycles onto the waiting train. Much less hassle this time as we were almost an hour early.
